THE HEALTH MUSEUM: BRAND LAUNCH

2006-2008

I joined The John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science in 2006 as the Marketing and Public Relations Director. I was the only marketing person in a small, yet mighty team. I was charged with managing all of the marketing collateral, website, newsletter, direct mail, and other communications for the museum in general, school programs, summer camp, special exhibits, and special events that drive museum visitors and raise admissions.

The most exciting project that I worked on while employed at the Museum was what we internally called the "Brand Launch." This included renaming the museum to a more friendly brand "The Health Museum" complete with a smiling, happy logo. We physically changed the exterior of the building from what looked like a boring office building to full of life by installing giant banners of people excitedly jumping or posing. The exciting Brand Launch event included a mascot-naming contest and a re-haul of signs, new website, and more.

I enjoyed pitching media stories and managing interviews about health, education, and the special programming that the Museum offered.

I am proud to be part of the collaborative efforts of this special team. Ultimately, we received the 2007 Bronze Anvil PRSA award and 2007 AMA Crystal Award for brand development.
